Landscape
Design & Turf Replacement

What we plant, where we plant it, and how we shape the land has a profound impact on how much water a landscape uses, and how much it can absorb.

Since 2009, our goal has been to conserve water by creating irrigation systems that use it more efficiently. We started with greywater irrigation and soon expanded to rainwater harvesting. But irrigation is only half the battle.

Strategic design and planting around water harvesting systems maximizes their impact. But in many cases, water re-use systems are not the most effective intervention or are simply not feasible. In these situations, it makes more sense to adapt the landscape.

For these reasons, because our goal is to use water as efficiently as possible, Greywater Corps now offers landscape design and lawn replacement services.

Strategic design and planting around water harvesting systems maximizes their impact.

Design Philosophy

Our design philosophy is to create landscapes that make the most of locally available resources, often in symbiosis with sustainable irrigation sources such as greywater and rainwater. A landscape’s sense of beauty is not only a matter of aesthetics. The processes behind the landscape also contribute to this feeling – often in deeper, more meaningful ways.

We summarize this philosophy in 3 core tenets:

  1. Use locally available resources – plants & materials.

  2. Localize water use – infiltration, harvesting, reuse.

  3. Design landscape around sustainable irrigation – not vice versa.
