MOVABLE DRAIN

Greywater flows by gravity through a flexible hose that can be moved around the yard to irrigate different areas.

 COST CONTROL

A Movable Drain irrigation system is among the simplest greywater systems we install. It has no filters, storage tanks or pumps, working purely by gravity. It is also the least expensive system due to lower labor costs (no trenching or plumbing in the yard). This system is only possible on raised foundations where irrigation is close to the house, or sloped lots where the area to be irrigated is downhill from the house.

PROS & CONS

Advantages of this system are its simplicity, low cost, and the ability to control exactly where the water goes. Disadvantages are having to move the hose to a new location every day or two, to irrigate a different part of the yard. But even without micro-managing the irrigation areas this system accomplishes one great benefit, which is to keep gently-used water out of the sewer system (where it ultimately ends up in the ocean) and in the ecosystem (where it ends up in the aquifer below the city).
